Educational leave with Learn and Speak
In principle, every employer is entitled to "Bildungsurlaub" or "Bildungsfreistellung", this legal entitlement to educational leave or educational time is valid in 14 German states (all except Bavaria and Saxony).
The employer gives its employees paid leave for further education, educational leave is granted in addition to the regular leave entitlement. The content of the continuing education can, but does not necessarily have to be related to the professional activity, but serves the general further education of the employee. As a rule, employees are entitled to five days of educational leave per year or ten days in two years.
The language courses Bildungsurlaub English and Spanish, which are offered by Learn and Speak Wolpert Schulungszentrum, serve the personal further education of the participants and are - by ensuring appropriate training requirements - officially recognized as educational leave by the State Administration Office in Saxony-Anhalt.
During the educational leave, the employer continues to pay the wage or salary, as in the case of a regular vacation. The employer does not pay the course fees, expenses for teaching materials and costs for travel and accommodation. The employees have to pay for these themselves, but they can claim the expenses in their tax return.
